The
Congregation of the "Charity Schools" was founded by the
Venetian brother Marco and Antonio Cavanis at the beginning of 19th
century.
The institute was equipped with a meteorological observatory by
father Riccado Janeselli in 1958.
The observatory was later implemented with instruments like barometer,
barograph, anemograph, rain gage, and so on. Its position (approximately
in the geographic center of the lagoon) is very suitable for the
meteorological monitoring because the surrounding buildings for
a wide ray haven't such an elevation to compromise the measurements.
Actually the observatory collects the following sorts of data: Atmospheric
pressure; Precipitations; Solar radiation; Temperature; Vapor pressure;
Humidity; Wind speed and direction.
