Ufficio
Idrografico e Mareografico di Venezia
(Prime Minister's Office)
It
was in charge to produce detailed maps based on topographic and
bathyimetric survey campaigns of the bottom of the lagoon. It held
an archive of hydrographic maps regarding the lagoon and produced
since the end of 19 th century.
This office had disposed of the asset: its powers were transferred from 2002 into the Agency for Environmental Protection and Technical Services
(APAT) Department of inland waters and marine Services - Lagoon of Venice, who took over the functions regarding the monitoring of sea levels, and in the lagoons of Venice and Marano-Grado and on the northern Adriatic.
APAT then merged into ISPRA (Istituto Superiore per la Protezione e la Ricerca Ambientale - i.e. the National Institute for Environmental Protection and Research), established by the Law 133/2008.
